For most people the Feast of the Sacred Heart and the Novena to the Sacred Heart belong in the month of June – however not so this year. In 2008, the Novena started on Thursday 22 May and the Feast day was celebrated on Friday 30 May. Eileen Good spoke to Irish Jesuit Barney McGuckian about why it was so early.

The Daily prayer Beta was made available initially to the group who offered to test it. This evaluation version of the Daily prayer remains available while we work on a final version that will be available in other languages. The Beta test group offered their reactions and suggestions by completing a survey.
This version of the daily prayer sees the return of the Prayer guides and many user-selectable features such as font size, appearance and sound.
There is a brief video introduction to the new presentation of the Daily prayer available here.
A written section-by-section guide that is also in the Settings panel is also available.
Read about the musicians and play one or all the previews of the audio that can accompany your Daily prayer here.
All those who volunteered as ‘Beta testers’ will be asked to participate in the survey. Additional respondents may be asked to offer their opinions on the Daily prayer Beta. You will find a link here should it become possible.
Note: Comments are closed for now below – the survey will be a chance to take account of reactions. We are grateful for the immediate impressions and look forward to listening to your remarks. These came in during the first few hours that the Beta version went live.

Thank you for this lovely new and enhanced daily prayer. The optional guide is both helpful and easy to use. I’m sure it is a blessing for us all.

Love, love , love the new additions. A wonderful way to begin my day in the presence of our Lord!

The “classic” version was wonderful, the new presentation even more so. Background and sounds enhance and deepen the experience. One concern would be reading the text. Will the box remain around the words over the background? If not, which happened occasionally on my test version, please consider font color, etc. For the most part there was no problem. Thank you for this ministry. Blessings to you.

Very nice indeed. I look forward to using the version after the beta test.

A great new format. I look forward to experimenting with the music – perhaps I will not rush the prayer format as I am wont to do. regards Marie-Louise

I love the new options and especially the music! The visual and the auditory add to the power of the prayer in my opinion. Thanks!
